First, the resin pellets are directly colored
The pearl powder cannot be directly added to the resin pellets, but it must be fixed to the surface of the resin particles by a liquid coupling agent to produce a physical or chemical bond. Such coupling agents include various softeners and refined mineral oils. In addition, the wetting properties of the interface are improved by the addition of an emulsifier or a high boiling solvent. Usually, the coupling agent is added in an amount of 0.2 to 0.5% by weight of the resin. If the pearl powder is more uniformly dispersed in the resin, 1% of a low molecular weight polyethylene powder may be added to the pigment and resin mixture. In this way, the maximum amount of coloration is 2%. Exceeding this amount, the excess pigment can only be scattered because the surface of the resin has no space to continue to adsorb.
Second, pearl powder for screen printing
Pearlescent powder In screen printing, printing ink is transferred from the screen to the substrate. The frame of the screen screen plate is stretched with a wire mesh, and the image information is transmitted by a screen, and the ink is extruded through a screen by a rubber roller or a squeegee to be printed on the substrate. The material selection and manufacturing technology of the screen plays an important role in the printing effect. The fiber thickness of the screen determines the thickness of the ink transfer layer. Monofilaments are recommended when using pearlescent pigments to prevent the pigment from clogging the screen holes. Screen printing inks should have good application properties (adaptability, fluidity and good curability). The ink should not block the screen holes and dry quickly after printing. Pearlescent pigments are used in all screen printing ink systems, but are best suited for use in clear ink systems. If the pearlescent pigment is pre-wet and dispersed, it will mix better with the ink.
Third, the application of pearl powder in ink
Pearl powder is suitable for intaglio, letterpress, flexo, screen, coating and other printing system inks, used in the manufacture of cardboard, wallpaper, business cards, tipping paper, greeting cards and so on.
The product has excellent decorative properties, making the colors of various printed products more natural and vivid, and at the same time has a noble pearl luster.
Fourth, the precautions when using pearl powder
1. Pearlescent pigments can be used in combination with transparent dyes or pigments to obtain unique and beautiful color effects, but if used together with opaque pigments, it will reduce pearl luster.
2. Mixing with high shear force or mixing for a long time, the particles of pearlescent pigment will be destroyed, which is the reason for the decrease of pearl gloss.
3. When the ink or paint is low in viscosity, the pearlescent pigment particles will precipitate, so please stir it when using.
4. Due to the phenomenon of complementary colors, do not mix pearlescent rainbow color products.
5. In order to have a good uniform dispersion, the pearlescent pigment should be pre-wetted, then put into the bulk material and solvent to wet, and then mixed with the pearlescent pigment.
